5 P - Here is the News 1

Hi everybody,
                     Five Parsecs info again.

"Here is the Hugemonte News, provided by Gravity. Your presenter today is Rory Mulholland."

"Good Morning. Here is the 10:30 news from the Philleas Basin."

"Our top story today is that the High Council have approved the building of assorted homes and buildings at the bottom of Bifrost Ridge. This is the proposed site of Josiah P. Rostof's second mining project, The Bifrost Mine. Once the main building works are complete, in three months' time, he will start bringing in the miners, some will come from the Rostoff Mine and others from The Golden Way Mine, on Valhalla."

He continues, "Water supplies have already been sourced from a borehole and solar collectors are being installed as a backup to the power plant that is due to be delivered in three days' time. The GPS has been updated with the latest maps. The temporary Hopper pad is nearing completion too. The approval was only granted on the assurance that the mine tailings will be landscaped on a weekly basis."

" Fighting continues in the Grahunya system, where the Dorassin is objecting to Unity forces colonizing one of their planets. Unity forces attacked the spaceport but were repulsed. We are hoping to get further details later."

"The Unity Battlegroup Hydra will begin training manoeuvres in the Var-Kun system today. A Unity official stated today that any traders travelling there need to get a Unity Ident Code Designation beforehand and follow a pre-assigned course. That is very good advice there since the Battlegroup will be using live ordinance in some parts of the training and accidents do happen."

"On Kometenmelodie yesterday, a Junker's attack force raided Camp Livingstone, the RDF force were caught napping and were slow to react. More on this story later." (See Camp Livingstone entry.)

"Some local news now."

"The travelling Unity Trade Fair opens at the Unity Barracks today. It will run for three weeks and will then continue on to Logan's World. One of the new developments on show will be the bright yellow "Stomper", it is the new construction Mech from JaCoB, which is capable of clearing a wilderness or urban site in record time, according to recent reports."

"This afternoon, we will be getting a flypast of the "Homestedder" range of cargo transports, capable of delivering a complete farm unit in one drop, vertical takeoff and landing is its specialist role, it can put down in all sorts of places."

He smiles, "They could certainly use that out at the Spaceport, where some refurbishment is going on at the High Lounge. Work has been halted while they repair a burst water main they were not expecting to find while digging a hole for a support pylon. Once that has been repaired they are going to re-scan the area to avoid any more problems."

"Now, sport."

"The mile-long 'Dozer Derby course is all ready for tomorrow's semi-final event, with mud wallows and piles of fat tree trunks aplenty to overcome along the way. The current leader is Ishiguro Hamatsu, driving Honga's Grasshopper, but Frans Jurgen, who is in second place, driving Triumphant's Mastodon was still very confident and said today, "I like the course layout, it suits my style of driving, it's going to be an exciting race for all of us."

"That takes place at the Woomera Forest if you fancy going along, otherwise tune to channel 73 for the live event."

The news continues .....

Regards all,

Ivor Cogdell
